Privacy Policy

SaySolid is an iOS app that turns plain-language descriptions into dimensioned 3D CAD models. This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and how to remove it.

In short

  • There are no accounts. SaySolid signs you in anonymously and never asks for your name or email address: there is no username and no password, only an anonymous identifier that syncs through your iCloud Keychain.
  • The text and reference images you send are processed by OpenAI so a model can be generated from them.
  • Your projects, messages, attached images, and generated models are stored privately against an anonymous identifier.
  • SaySolid is free to download. Building a model spends credits, and credit packs are bought through Apple in the App Store.
  • Nothing is public unless you create a share link or publish it to a third-party service such as Printables.com.
  • Printables.com draft generation is optional. You review the draft and control any upload or publication.
  • You can take a photo or choose an image from Photos or Files. The camera is also used when you view a model in augmented reality, and those frames stay on your device. SaySolid does not use your microphone, location, or contacts.

This summary is for orientation only. The sections below are the policy.

Information Collection and Use

This privacy policy applies to the SaySolid app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Adapted Hub LLC (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). The Application is free to download and is intended for use "AS IS". Building a model spends credits, and credits are bought as in-app purchases through Apple, as described under Credits and purchases below.

The Application does not require you to create an account. When you first open it, the Application signs you in through anonymous Firebase Authentication, which issues a random identifier for your installation. That identifier is kept in your device keychain and in your iCloud Keychain, so it survives reinstalling the Application and is shared with your other devices signed in to the same iCloud account. The Service Provider does not ask for your name, your email address, or any other contact details, except where you choose to include them in feedback, and cannot identify you from the anonymous identifier alone.

Information you provide

  • The text you type. The descriptions, follow-up instructions, and revisions you write to describe a part are stored against your anonymous identifier in Cloud Firestore, so your conversation is still there when you reopen a project.
  • The images you attach. You can take a photo or choose an image from Photos or Files as a reference for the part. SaySolid stores the selected image in Firebase Storage and stores its technical details with your message. The image stays private to your anonymous identifier unless you choose to share information through another feature.
  • Projects and revision history. The projects you create and the history of revisions within them are stored in Cloud Firestore against the same anonymous identifier.
  • Generated models. The 3D model artifacts and thumbnails produced from your descriptions are stored in Firebase Storage, private to your anonymous identifier.
  • Print-ready exports. When you ask for a print-ready export, the Service Provider's own servers slice the model with the printer profile you pick. No third-party service takes part in slicing. The G-code, the 3MF plate file, and the preview that come out of it are stored in Firebase Storage under your anonymous identifier.
  • The feedback you send. Settings > Send Feedback opens a form that collects your message and, if you choose to give them, a name and an email address. The Application sends that material to Owlmetry together with your anonymous identifier so the Service Provider can read and answer it.

Information collected automatically

  • Crash reports. If the Application crashes, Firebase Crashlytics records diagnostic information about the crash — such as the device model, operating system version, and the state of the app when it stopped — so the fault can be found and fixed. Each report is tagged with your anonymous identifier.
  • Privacy-limited usage telemetry. The Application reports a deliberately narrow set of technical signals to Owlmetry: opaque internal identifiers, feature and outcome codes, counts, and timings. Those reports are tagged with your anonymous identifier, and Owlmetry keeps its own random installation identifier in your device keychain, which survives reinstalling the Application. This telemetry never includes the text of your messages, your project names, or the contents of your generated models.
  • Notifications. The Application may ask your permission to send notifications. If you allow them, it registers a device push token and stores it against your anonymous identifier. When a build finishes, a notification is sent through Firebase Cloud Messaging and the Apple Push Notification service, carrying the project name, the assistant's reply text, and a link to the thumbnail.

The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device, and requests no access to your microphone or contacts. The Application uses the camera when you choose to take a reference photo and when you choose to view a model in augmented reality; the camera frames captured for augmented reality are processed on your device and are not uploaded. It uses the system Photos and Files pickers only when you choose an existing reference image.

The Service Provider collects contact details only when you choose to give them in feedback, and uses them only to reply to that feedback. They are never used for marketing.

Credits and purchases

Credits are bought as consumable packs through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple processes the payment and is the merchant of record, so the Service Provider never receives your payment details. RevenueCat validates each purchase and receives your anonymous identifier together with the purchase and receipt details. Your credit balance and the ledger entries that record every grant, reservation, and charge are stored in Cloud Firestore against the same anonymous identifier, which is also what a restored purchase is matched to.

Third Party Access

The text and reference images you send are processed by OpenAI. To turn your request into a 3D model, the Application transmits that text, your attached images, and the context of the current project needed to act on it to OpenAI. OpenAI generates the instructions used to build the model. While a build runs, the Service Provider's servers also send OpenAI rendered images of the model under construction and the results of the tool calls that measure and validate it, so the model can be checked and revised. When a project starts from a STEP file you import, the measured profile of that file is sent, not the file itself. Do not send confidential or personal information that you would not want processed by a third-party AI provider.

Printables.com listing draft generation is optional. It starts only after you tap Generate draft. The Application then sends the current branded preview and up to the newest 20 visible user and assistant chat messages to OpenAI. The combined chat text is capped at 32,000 characters. OpenAI uses this material to create an editable title, description, and tags.

Otherwise, information is shared only with the infrastructure services that operate the Application. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:

  • Google Firebase Anonymous authentication, Cloud Firestore storage of projects, messages, and credit records, Firebase Storage for attached images and generated models, Crashlytics crash reporting, Cloud Messaging delivery of build notifications, and the Hosting and Cloud Functions that serve any share links you choose to create.
  • OpenAI Processes the descriptions and reference images you send, together with rendered images of the model under construction and the results of its measurement and validation tool calls, to generate 3D models. It also processes the branded preview and limited visible chat when you request an optional Printables.com listing draft.
  • Apple Sells credit packs through App Store in-app purchase, delivers build notifications through the Apple Push Notification service, and syncs your anonymous identifier through iCloud Keychain.
  • RevenueCat Validates in-app purchases. It receives your anonymous identifier with the purchase and receipt details.
  • Printables.com Hosts the website where you can upload and publish a listing. Printables.com and any login provider you select manage the website session and cookies under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • Owlmetry Privacy-limited usage telemetry (opaque identifiers, feature codes, counts, and timings, tagged with the anonymous identifier), plus any feedback you choose to send from Settings, including the optional name and email address.

The Service Provider may also disclose information:

  • as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
  • when the Service Provider believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
  • to trusted service providers who work on the Service Provider's behalf, who do not have an independent use of the information disclosed to them, and who have agreed to adhere to the rules set out in this privacy statement.

The Service Provider does not sell your information.

Printables.com Publishing

The Application can open Printables.com in an embedded browser. You can review and edit the generated listing draft before you use it. You choose which prepared model files and preview image to upload, and you control whether and when a listing is published. SaySolid does not publish a listing for you.

Printables.com and any login provider you select manage the embedded website, login process, session, and cookies under their own terms and privacy policies. The embedded browser keeps its persistent website session on your device until you sign out through the website, the website expires the session, or you remove the Application. Its session is separate from Safari and does not share your Safari login.

Any model files, preview image, and listing text you upload are sent to Printables.com at your direction. Printables.com then handles that material under its own terms and privacy policy.

Public Sharing

Nothing you make is public by default. Your projects, your messages, and your generated models stay private to your anonymous identifier until you deliberately create a share link for one model inside the Application or publish material to a third-party service such as Printables.com. The rest of this section describes SaySolid share links.

Creating a share link publishes a snapshot of that one model to a web page at an address of the form https://saysolid.com/p/<code>. The code is ten random characters chosen by your device, and it is not guessable in practice. The Service Provider does not list, index, or advertise share links anywhere. Even so, anyone holding the link can open it — without signing in, without the Application, and without your knowledge. Treat a share link as public, and give it only to people you are content to give the model to.

What a share link exposes

  • The 3D preview, the title, and the thumbnail. The preview meshes, the model's title as it read when you created the link, and its thumbnail image become readable by anyone with the link, so the web page can draw the model and messaging apps can show a preview card.
  • The STEP and STL files. The shared page offers both as downloads to anyone holding the link. There is no switch that withholds them: the preview files have to stay readable or the page cannot draw anything at all, so withholding the STEP would hide the file without hiding the shape. Revoking the link is the only control that takes any of this back.
  • Nothing else on the page. The shared page itself exposes only the preview, the title, the thumbnail, and the STEP and STL downloads. It never exposes the text you typed, the attached reference images, the review images, your other projects, or the models you have not shared. Taking a remix inside the Application copies more of that one revision, as Remixing below sets out.

Revoking a link

You can revoke a share link at any time from within the Application, and deleting a project revokes its link as part of the deletion. Revoking takes that model's files back out of public reach and the shared page stops showing the model.

Revocation is not instant everywhere. A page someone already has open, and short-lived copies held by content delivery networks or by the link-preview caches of messaging and social applications, can persist for a brief period — the shared page itself is cached for at most five minutes. Anything a recipient already downloaded or remixed stays with them. Revoking prevents further access; it cannot recall what has already left.

Remixing

Anyone who opens your link in the Application can take a copy of the model into their own library, and there is no switch that prevents it. That copy is made on the Service Provider's servers, directly into the recipient's own private storage. It copies the shared revision as a whole: the 3D preview meshes, the thumbnail, the STEP file, the generated source code that built the model, the validation report, the model specification, and, when the project began from a STEP file you imported, that original imported file. It never includes your chat messages, the reference images you attached, your other revisions, or your other projects. Their copy is theirs from that moment and remains in their library even after you revoke the link.

Opt-Out Rights

You can delete an individual project, and everything stored under it, from within the Application.

To remove your work, use Delete account in Settings. It deletes the projects, messages, attached images, generated models, print exports, shared links, and printer settings stored under your anonymous identifier. The anonymous identifier itself is kept, and so is your credit balance with its ledger entries, so any credits you bought remain available in the Application and the welcome bonus is not granted a second time.

Uninstalling the Application stops it collecting anything further on that device, but it no longer removes your data or your identifier: the anonymous identifier is held in your iCloud Keychain, so reinstalling the Application, or installing it on another device signed in to the same iCloud account, restores access to the same work.

Data Retention Policy

The Service Provider retains the messages, attached images, projects, and generated models stored under your anonymous identifier for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable time thereafter, so that your work is still available when you return to it. Deleting a project in the Application removes its stored content.

You can remove your work held under your anonymous identifier at any time with Delete account in Settings, as Opt-Out Rights above describes.

If you would prefer the Service Provider to delete the data associated with your installation for you, contact them at Jay@adaptedhub.com and they will respond in a reasonable time. Because the data is tied only to an anonymous identifier and no account details are collected, you may need to supply that identifier from within the Application for the request to be matched to your data.

Children

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.

The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If the Service Provider discovers that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete it from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided personal information, please contact the Service Provider at Jay@adaptedhub.com so that the necessary action can be taken.

Security

The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information, and provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the information it processes and maintains. Data in transit is encrypted, and the projects and generated models stored for your anonymous identifier are access-controlled so they are not readable by other users of the Application.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Operator access

The Service Provider operates an administration console. Its operator can read the projects, messages, attached images, and generated models stored under an anonymous identifier, together with credit balances and ledger entries, in order to give support, investigate abuse, and review the quality of generated models.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-09-15.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as set out in this Privacy Policy, now and as amended by the Service Provider.
